Rapper Pop Smoke was undoubtedly one of the most popular rappers in the Hip-Hop world. Unfortunately, Pop Smoke was gunned down on February 19 of last year, which shocked his fans and everyone around him.
After his death, two albums have been released so far, with the latest one having released on July 16th. Fans continue to listen to his music and honor his memory every day.
While speaking to Angie Martinez, Pop Smoke’s mother, Audrey Jackson, and brother, Obasi Jackson, talked about Pop Smoke’s legacy. His mother talked about him sounding different in the newer albums.
“With the new album it’s easier to hear his voice. I don’t know if it’s because time has passed or he does sound different on this. His sound, his style, it’s different.”
Pop Smoke’s mother also admitted that she still hasn’t listened to his first posthumous album Shoot For the Stars, Aim For the Moon yet because “it’s a part of the immediate loss,’ recalling that her son “coming home and trying some of the songs on me.”
Pop Smoke’s life might have been snuffed out far too early, but his legacy in the form of his music will carry on from now to forever and he will always be remembered.
