Pop sensation Britney Spears is certainly a controversial figure in the music world, going back to her 2007 meltdown and her father then moving to form a conservatorship around Spears’ estate.
Britney Spears finally spoke out against her father’s conservatorship on June 23rd addressing a Los Angeles Superior Court judge via video. For a long time, Britney Spears has been working hard to get her father out of her life. Spears compared her father to a “sex trafficker” and said that “he loved” having control over her.
However, that is not the only drama that exists in her life. Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander previously claimed that Britney Spears’ team forced him to annul his marriage to Spears.
Now it seems there is more to this story than initially thought. While speaking to the Daily Mail, divorce attorney Mark Goldberg, who was Jason Alexander’s lawyer, claimed that Britney’s mother, Lynne Spears forced her daughter into filing an annulment petition.
“It was the mother interfering in and inserting herself into her daughter’s life. She came to Las Vegas, threw Jason out, and got him a plane ticket home.
Jason was looking for advice. He was very emotional and upset. Britney had called him to come to Las Vegas. She was there with friends, as I recall, and she paid for his airfare to come. As I remember it, it was Britney’s idea to get married. He said they hadn’t been drinking or doing drugs — or at least they weren’t drunk.” Mark told the outlet that he repeatedly asked his client if either of them was incapacitated at the time of the wedding, but “he was clear, they weren’t … they just really loved each other … Jason was confused because he loved Britney and he didn’t want to hurt her, but he was very afraid of her mother and management.
I really believe this particular event had a detrimental impact on Britney Spears’ life — the way she’s been controlled and the toll that has taken … This wasn’t a stranger she’d just picked up. They had known each other for years. He thought if he played the game and did what they asked, she’d come around, and he and Britney would be together.”
Britney Spears and Jason Alexander married back in 2004 but the marriage was annulled just 55 hours after that. Regarding her conservatorship case, she has her own lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, to represent her from now on. We hope she will finally be free from her father’s clutches.
