The rivalry between Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier reached a whole new level as it culminated in the main event of UFC 264, as the two fighters took each other on in the highly anticipated fight.
In a very shocking finish to the fight, Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round and Dustin Poirier was declared the winner via TKO after the fight ended due to doctor’s stoppage.
The Notorious One went under the knife in a 3.5-hour-long surgery for his fractured tibia. After the surgery was over, Conor McGregor provided an update on his condition, stating that he will be on crutches for 6 weeks.
Since his crushing defeat, many fans have been telling Conor McGregor to retire from MMA for good. While speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Joe Rogan called out fans who claimed that Conor McGregor is finished as he blasted those fans for not having any knowledge of MMA.
“I did not enjoy the way people, who are not MMA experts, were talking about the conclusion of that fight. And they were saying that Conor is old and Conor is done; he doesn’t have the anger anymore or the drive to become a champion.
Horses**t! You people don’t know anything about MMA. Let me tell you what happened. You got a guy who went out there, guns blazing, giving it his all with a pre-existing injury and he got beat by a better man.”
It was previously reported that Conor McGregor will be out of action until next year. We will have to wait and see what shape Conor McGregor will be in once he returns to the Octagon.
