Stephen Amell made a name for himself by portraying the role of the Green Arrow in CW’s hit show Arrow. He is also a huge fan of professional wrestling and has even competed in pro wrestling matches in WWE and also at All In a few years ago.
Stephen Amell is set to star in his own pro wrestling show called Heels, which focuses on a family-owned wrestling promotion and the two brothers, who have a feud over their late father’s legacy.
While speaking on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, Stephen Amell revealed that he suffered a horrific back injury while filming the show. Amell stated that while performing a wrestling move, known as the “Coast to Coast,” he was not a fan of how the first take turned out. When he did the second take, Amell suffered a horrific injury.
“I fractured my… T10 and L1. Compression fracture. I broke my f–king back. I landed straight up and down. And it was one of those injuries that was incredibly painful. I think it was a shock to my system. And everything around that area seized up. And for like 24 hours, I had a lot of difficulty getting a full breath in. And then, miraculously, it was like those muscles relaxed. And this happened on a Wednesday, maybe. And I spent Wednesday night in the hospital but I was home on Thursday. I was back at work on Monday.”
Stephen Amell’s insane dedication to making the best pro wrestling show possible is certainly worth respecting. The series is set to release on August 15 and we will have to see how it will turn out to be.
