The Weeknd remains one of the most popular singers in the modern music industry and that is largely due to the themes shown in his albums, notably his After Hours album.
The singer also battled his own personal demons over the years as he used hard drugs and alcohol to cope with a lot of things in his life.
While speaking in his September 2021 GQ cover story, The Weeknd revealed that he is now ‘sober lite’ after years of using hard drugs and alcohol. The singer also realized he was using drugs as a crutch.
“I like sober lite. I’m not a heavy drinker, as much as I used to be. The romance of drinking isn’t there. It was me thinking that I needed it. And not doing the work to figure out how not to need it. And I’ve spent the last few years realizing that and thanking God that I don’t need it. Because for a lot of people, it’s hard to shake it. But I knew I didn’t want it.”
The Weeknd also revealed that he wants to give up drugs for good as the singer wants to start a family in the future.
“I know I say I don’t, but I know I do. I want children. I like the trajectory of my career. But also I feel like having children would influence me and inspire me more.”
We applaud the singer for getting control of his life and sobering up. The Weeknd also revealed the release of his new music recently and it certainly excited fans a lot.
