Reboots are aplenty in recent memory and a reimagining of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is coming. This series, based on a viral video depicting the story as a drama instead of a sitcom, caught the eye of Will Smith and he vouched for the series to become a reality. That won’t help them keep a staff together.
The Hollywood Reporter stated that the upcoming Peacock drama saw the series’ showrunner Chris Collins part ways with the project in December. Diane Houston was brought on to replace him, but now she has departed as well.
Houston just left the Bel-Air reboot, marking the loss of a second showrunner in rapid fashion. They remedied the issue by bringing in two showrunners for the next round.
Will Smith is still producing the show, but the series has lost two showrunners in quick order. T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson, who were brought in by Houston and executive producer Malcolm Spellman, will share showrunner responsibilities now.
The new Bel-Air reboot is still on the way, but they’re experiencing some problems with keeping their staff intact. You can check out the viral video that inspired the series below.
