Kevin Durant is in a league of his own in many fans’ assumption. The Brooklyn Nets star also just inked a huge four-year extension on his contract. On their quest for a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, Durant had a lot to say as well.
Many fans had doubts about Team USA this time around. Some regular big names were absent from this year’s games including James Harden, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Kyrie Irving. Those players elected not to participate in this year’s games.
Hall of Famer Mike Krzyzewski, who was coach for Team USA from 2008 to 2016 was also not the coach for this year’s team. Naturally, some fans had their doubts, but Kevin Durant addressed them in a big way. KD took to Instagram live where he unleashed on those doubters.
“Everybody who said we were going to take the L . . . They had some power rankings out. They had us fourth behind Slovenia. Come on, man. Shoutout to everybody that won this gold, everybody that chipped in and helped out. We’re going to the press conference, but I had to talk my sh*t real quick.”
Fans will always have something negative to say when it comes to team sports, because that’s just part of the game. Kevin Durant seems incredibly focused at this point to bring it home for Team USA and prove all of those naysayers wrong in a big way.
