CEO of Tesla Motors and business tycoon Elon Musk certainly needs no introduction. A few months ago, NASA awarded Elon Musk’s SpaceX a lucrative contract to get astronauts to the moon by 2024. As reported earlier, Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin had a problem with this.

Space tourism has become a growing trend among the richest people in the world. Now it seems Elon Musk will take it to the next level.

Musk’s SpaceX revealed it plans on launching a satellite that will project ads to those in space while it orbits the planet. SpaceX will team up with Geometric Energy Corporation. They plan to launch the satellite called a CubeSat into space at the beginning of next year.

Once in space, the satellite will deploy a “selfie stick” that will be able to capture the advertisements being projected into space. The satellite will then transmit a live video of that back to GEC’s Canadian headquarters.

According to GEC co-founder and chief executive Samuel Reid, those interested in the CubeSat can buy a pixel to help advertise their cause. All pixel “tokens” must be purchased with cryptocurrency, and there are five different tokens involved.

“I’m trying to achieve something that can democratize access to space and allow for decentralized participation. Hopefully, people don’t waste money on something inappropriate, insulting or offensive.”

We will have to wait and see how Elon Musk’s next venture will turn out to be next year. The big question is how effective advertising in outer space will be and which company will lay down the biggest payment for that service.
