Manny Pacquiao is undoubtedly one of the most popular boxers in the world of professional boxing right now and has faced the best of the best the sport has to offer. Pacquiao was set to square off against the undefeated welterweight boxer Errol Spence Jr. this month. However, the match ended up being cancelled after Spencer suffered a torn retina in his left eye.
This fight will mark Manny’s return to boxing and his replacement opponent has been chosen as Yordenis Ugas. While speaking to FightHype, Manny Pacquiao shared his thoughts regarding Errol Spence Jr.’s unfortunate injury.
“I pray for his fast recovery – His operation; eye operation. So, you know, most important thing is his health. That’s the first concern.
Manny Pacquiao was then asked about Spence’s replacement, Yordenis Ugas. Pacquiao made it clear he doesn’t underestimate Ugas in any way. This is still a boxing match and Pacquiao is well aware what can happen in a boxing ring.
“Good, I mean. We cannot underestimate Ugas. Ugas also has experience in boxing. So, we have to make sure that we are a hundred percent conditioned. We adjust. We adjust our training camp.”
Manny Pacquiao is set to face off against Yordenis Ugas on August 21st in a boxing match. We will have to wait and see how the match turns out, but losing Spence Jr. off the card will likely cause a huge dent in overall interest.
