Cameron Diaz was touted as one of the most popular actresses in the history of Hollywood as she made a name for herself in films such as Charlie’s Angels, Bad Teacher, Gangs of New York, the Shrek films and more.
To the shock of the entire world, Cameron Diaz announced her retirement from acting back in 2018, a move that fans still can’t quite understand. Now it seems Diaz decided to set the record straight as to why she did what she did.
While speaking to Kevin Hart on Hart to Heart, Cameron Diaz was asked why she left the world of acting behind. Diaz revealed that it was because she wanted to make her life more manageable and acting simply was not fulfilling enough for her to continue doing it.
“When you do something at a really high level for a long period of time. Other parts of you that isn’t that has to sort of be handed off to other people.
Different parts of my life, whether it was my home, or every aspect – from finances, or just the management of me as a human being, not me as ‘Cameron Diaz. But for my personal spiritual self, I was realizing it was that one part of me that functioned at a high level wasn’t enough.”
Cameron Diaz stated that she loved acting but realized there were other aspects of her life that she was not managing.
“It’s fun to do, I love it. I love acting. I could go forever. I literally feel like, sometimes, I have unlimited energy and inertia. So many parts of my life … that I wasn’t touching and that I wasn’t managing. I couldn’t really manage it because it was so big. It was so massive.”
Cameron Diaz has been enjoying her life after retirement by focusing on her family and also a variety of other projects and we couldn’t be happier for her. Cameron Diaz might be retired from acting, but Hollywood would likely welcome her back with open arms.
