Jason Momoa’s role as Aquaman/Arthur Curry received a tremendous reception, both critically and commercially. It was also touted as one of the best films produced under the DCEU banner. The sequel to the film, Aquaman 2, will see Momoa reprise his role as Arthur Curry. Momoa also recently paid tribute to a young fan who lost his life to cancer.
Amber Heard will be returning to portray Meera, which fans certainly aren’t too happy about. Willem Dafoe is also likely to return as Vulko. Jason Momoa previously revealed that the film started production this month, and he is also involved in writing the script.
According to a report by the What I’m Hearing newsletter, Jason Mamoa is expected to get a handsome payout from Warner Bros, should the film go to streaming. The deal came from Momoa’s agent, who seems to be worried about the current state of the theatrical industry.
In the past few weeks, actors filing lawsuits against filmmakers have become commonplace, with Scarlett Johansson suing Disney for streaming Black Widow, Gerard Butler suing producers of Olympus Has Fallen and more. Emma Stone also considered suing the House of Mouse for streaming Cruella. Warner Bros might be trying to avoid such a situation if they can help it.
Aquaman 2 is slated to release in December of 2022 and we will have to see if it will far surpass the original in every way.
