Alex Trebek is one of the most legendary game show hosts of all time. With his years and years of time hosting Jeopardy, someone else taking his place sounds extremely out of place.
Mike Richards was decided for the role. However, it seems that he has decided to step down after the Anti-Defamation League happened upon a podcast appearance he had from 8 years ago.
Richards made comments that were anti-Semitic in nature. He said “Ixnay on the ose-nay. She’s not an ew-Jay,” after someone had introduced the topic of big noses on the podcast. Richards made a statement announcing his move to step down.
I was deeply honored to be asked to host the syndicated show and was thrilled by the opportunity to expand my role. However, over the last several days it has become clear that moving forward as host would be too much of a distraction for our fans and not the right move for the show.
Jeopardy’s new season has already starting shooting, so Richards has filled Trebek’s shoes for one episode. The show has been amid other controversies as well, so it’s unclear who will they consider for a host next.
