Tragedy struck the pro hockey world today as news broke of Jimmy Hayes’ passing. He was only 31-years-old, and there are no details about his cause of death at this time.

The former NHL winger played for several teams including the Chicago Blackhawks during his time on the ice. His alma mater, Boston College, announced this sad news on Monday.

“Boston College Hockey is heartbroken over the passing of Jimmy Hayes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Hayes family.”

He played for 7 seasons in the NHL, wearing jerseys for the Blackhawks, Panthers, Bruins, and Devils. He also scored 54 goals during that time as well. His younger brother, Kevin Hayes, still plays for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Hayes was picked in the second round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, and then he made his NHL debut for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2011. This is a tragic situation and our hearts go out to Hayes’ family and friends at this time.

Let’s get to know each other. Me? Well, I have a master’s degree in Journalism from Marshall University, but I don’t really like to talk about that. I was a stand-up comedian for eight years, but I don’t really like to talk about that either. I write a lot. I once worked for a company that writes blurbs for online gambling games. Those paid $.75 each. So, if you frequent that kind of thing, then you’re welcome for the description for Biker Chicken Slots or Crazy Granny’s Scratchers. I wish I had more to tell, but due to my crippling anxiety and Tourette’s Syndrome, that has become increasingly worse over the years, I tend to keep to myself.
