Manny Pacquiao is touted as one of the top boxers in the world of professional boxing right now and has faced the best of the best the sport has to offer. Pacquiao was set to square off against the undefeated welterweight boxer Errol Spence Jr. on August 21st. However, the match ended up being cancelled after Spencer suffered a torn retina in his left eye.
Instead of Errol Spence Jr., Manny Pacquiao squared off against Yordenis Ugas. Many fans believed it was going to be an easy win for Ugas as he is nowhere near Spence Jr.’s level.
However, that was not what happened as Yordenis Ugas went all 12 rounds with Manny Pacquiao and pulled off a shocking upset victory against the former eight-division world champion.
After his crushing defeat, Manny Pacquiao made it clear that he isn’t sure if he will ever compete inside a boxing ring again. It seems Jake Paul thinks Pacquiao should hang up his boots.
While speaking during a press conference, Jake Paul was asked if he saw Manny Pacquiao’s fight. Paul revealed that he did watch the boxing match and stated that Pacquiao should retire from professional boxing as he’s getting too old now.
“Yeah, I saw it. Ugas fought an amazing fight, and, you know, Father Time catches up to these people. You see it with Mayweather, you see it with Pacquiao now. Ugas was prepared, man. He was counter-punching, throwing that overhand right, not letting Pacquiao get off. So, credit to him and, you know, Pacquiao is still a legend. He is one of my inspirations. I love the guy and wish him nothing but the best, but you know, sometimes, you gotta hang it up.”
Manny had previously stated he’d be open to facing Errol Spence Jr. once he heals up but now that is under question. We will have to wait and see what Manny Pacquiao will ultimately decide for his career.
