Nicki Minaj is one of the best artists in hip-hop. If she decides to give your song a feature, you’re certainly gonna go far. Only some are lucky to have Minaj drop a few bars on their songs, and sadly Doja Cat was not.
Minaj took to explaining on a Clubhouse session why she didn’t accept Cat’s offer to feature on “Get Into It (Yuh).” She explained that she wants to keep things straight between artist and artist. The middle management was what ticked her off.
The truth is, she asked me to get on that song. It’s not that I’m too busy at all. It’s just, there were middle people involved in that situation so I had told her, if it was like how me and BIA were direct and we dealt with each other directly, it would be different.
The rapper added that “Get Into It (Yuh)” was the second song that was sent to her. She couldn’t vibe with these songs and asked for more options, but Doja Cat’s team didn’t revert back to her.
But I didn’t love that song because I didn’t think I could bring anything to it. So I asked them to send me something else. I think that was the second song they sent me, but I asked them to send me something else and they didn’t send me anything else.
Doja Cat was recently trolled by fans for falling on the stage. While the song features a little ode to Minaj herself, the two have been compared often in the industry.
