Nick Diaz is a true veteran in the MMA world and has not competed inside the Octagon for many years. Fans have been wondering he will ever make his UFC and it seems that seemed unlikely in the past.
Many fans also wondered whether he will be facing off against Jorge Masvidal as well. However, it was then confirmed that he will be squaring off against Robbie Lawler for his return fight.
That doesn’t mean a fight between Nick Diaz and Jorge Masvidal can’t happen in the future. While speaking to ESPN MMA, Jorge Masvidal talked about squaring off against Nick Diaz in the future.
Jorge Masvidal stated that he is open to facing off against Nick Diaz as he has wanted to fight Diaz since their Strikeforce days. However, it all depends on whether Nick Diaz performs well against Robbie Lawler.
“If [Nick Diaz] looks good and does his job [at UFC 266], why not me and Nick? l’d love to fight Nick. It’s a classic fight. It’s a fight that I always wanted to do since I was at Strikeforce at 155 (pounds], he was at 170. I was like, ‘Man, that’s a dude that I’d like to fight.’ Nothing personal, just because of his style, just the way that he leaves it all out there. So if I get a fight with Nick, it’d be a blessing.”
Nick Diaz will be squaring off against Robbie Lawler at the upcoming UFC 266 pay-per-view in a five-round fight on September 25. It will be their second fight since UFC 47 back in 2004. We will have to wait and see who will come out on top.
