For the last week, an ongoing beef between Kanye West and Drake became one of the main topics of discussion in the music world. This included the instance where Drake called out Kanye West in his new song. Ye just pulled in the title for biggest debut of 2021, but Drizzy might be right on his tail
It was only the beginning as West even took his beef with Drake to the next level by doxxing Drake’s home address. Drake finally dropped his ‘Certified Lover Boy’ album and took a massive shot at Kanye West with his “7am On Bridle Path” song. He also leaked an unreleased track featuring West and Andre 3000.
It seems West might just have the last laugh as his album captured the record for most sales of an album in a week this year. On top of that, Kanye had more activity than Drake when it came to their respective albums.
However, now it seems Drake has the upper hand when it comes to the success of their respective albums. According to Rolling Stone, Certified Lover Boy surpassed DONDA‘s eight-day streaming totals in just three days.
Between Friday and Sunday, Certified Lover Boy garnered 430 million on-demand audio streams in the United States, while DONDA had under 423 million streams in its first eight days.
Despite this, DONDA was critically better received and also managed to break more records as well. It remains to be seen how the albums will fare in the coming months.
