Nickelodeon’s ‘Blue’s Clues’ defined the mid to late 90s for many children growing up, mostly thanks to Steve Burns’ role as the loveable host. Burns didn’t stay around for the show’s entire duration as he left it back in 2002.
Steve Burns was the host for the show for 100 episodes before his departure. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show, Nick Jr. surprised fans as they had Steve Burns appear in a video where he apologized to fans for his abrupt exit.
Burns stated that he simply decided to go to college and ultimately, his life was becoming more difficult so he had to leave the show.
“I just kind of got up and went to college. That was really challenging by the way, but great because I got to use my mind and take a step at a time and now I literally am doing many of the things that I wanted to do. And then look at you — and look at all you have done, and all you have accomplished in all that time … It’s just so amazing, right?” he said.
“We started out with clues and now it’s what? Student loans, and jobs, and families, and some of it has been kind of hard, you know? I know you know. And I wanted to tell you that I really couldn’t have done all of that without your help. And in fact, all the help that you helped me with when we were younger is still helping me today right now.”
Steve Burns ended his heartwarming message by taking all of his fans for sticking by him and was glad to see how many of his fans grew up to be upstanding adults like him.
“After all these years, I never forgot you ever, and I’m super glad we’re still friends. Thanks for listening. You look great by the way. Whatever you’re doing, it’s working.”
‘Blue’s Clues’ might be hosted by someone else right now but many fans will agree that Steve Burns truly made the show what it was and that will never change.
