Christy Carlson Romano is best known for playing Shia Labeouf’s older sister on “Even Stevens,” and as the voice of Kim Possible. Nowadays, the American actress has turned to Youtube, hosting her own show “Celebrity Kitchen.”
More recently, Romano took to Youtube to share the story of how she almost got the record deal that eventually went to Katy Perry. Romano posted a video titled “How Katy Perry Got My Record Deal,” in which she claims that the two were competing for the same contract.
Romano said that record executive Jason Flom was interested in getting her a deal at Virgin Records. Flom encouraged Romano to work with Perry and a group called the Matrix. Both Perry and Romano recorded their versions of the same songs.
Ultimately, the deal went to Perry. Romano herself acknowledged Perry’s talent in her video, saying:
I love her voice, she’s got range for days, she’s got texture. I think she’s amazing
Romano has a career past that point now, but she might also believe that her music career could have amounted to a bit more. As of this writing, Katy Perry has not responded.
