Eddie Murphy is a veteran actor in Hollywood, having made his return to acting with 2019’s hit film Dolemite Is My Name. It didn’t stop there as Murphy then starred in the long-awaited sequel to the smash-hit classic 80s Coming To America, the sequel aptly named Coming 2 America.
Murphy had quit acting in movies for a long time after a string of critically-panned movies such as Norbit, The Adventures Of Pluto Nash, and Meet Dave. He won the Razzie for Worst Actor of the decade due to the aforementioned movies.
According to Deadline, Eddie Murphy has signed a three-picture and first-look film deal with Amazon Studios. The deal requires Murphy to star in three films for Amazon Studios and develop original film projects for Prime Video and the studio with the potential to star in them.
“Eddie is a legend both in front of and behind the camera. With undeniable comedic and dramatic genius, he consistently delivers entertaining, original stories and characters to audiences around the world. We could not be more excited to help carry on the tradition and to officially welcome Eddie into the Amazon family.”
Eddie Murphy is already working on a fourth “Beverly Hills Cop” film for Amazon Studios as well. We will have to wait and see what the three films will be as part of his deal with Amazon Studios.
