Uma Thurman is certainly one of the best and most recognisable actresses in all of Hollywood. Texas recently introduced a highly controversial abortion law that bans abortions and it became one of the most highly discussed topics in recent memory. While even Caitlyn Jenner revealed that she thinks it is the decision of Texas to pass the laws, Tiffany Haddish had a different opinion.
While speaking to Washington Post, Uma Thurman revealed that she had an abortion as a teenager in Germany after she was impregnated by a significantly older man while living overseas for an acting gig.
Thurman called her abortion “the hardest decision of my life,” and then stated that she felt a responsibility to share her own experience in order to show support to the women of Texas who will be affected by the new law.
“There is so much pain in this story. It has been my darkest secret until now. I am 51 years old, and I am sharing it with you from the home where I have raised my three children, who are my pride and joy. My life has been extraordinary, at times filled with heartbreak, challenge, loss and fear—just like so many women’s lives—but also marked, like theirs, by courage and compassion.”
The Kill Bill actress then referred to the Texas abortion ban as a “staging ground for a human rights crisis for American women.” She then showed her support to the women as well.
”To all of you—to women and girls of Texas, afraid of being traumatized and hounded by predatory bounty hunters; to all women outraged by having our bodies’ rights taken by the state; and to all of you who are made vulnerable and subjected to shame because you have a uterus—I say: I see you
The Texas Abortion Law, which has been in effect since September 1st, makes abortion after 6 weeks a criminal offense. We certainly hope such a law will be done away with as soon as possible.
