Drake is a veteran musician and that is exactly why younger rappers such as Kodak Black want him as a mentor. He also has a lot of interests outside of making music and that includes expanding his businesses.
Being a veteran rapper, Drake’s opinion carries a lot of weight and he is never afraid to show his appreciation and respect for his peers in the Hip Hop industry as well.
During the opening stop of J. Cole’s The Off-Season Tour, Cole invited Drake and Future on stage with him for a performance of their No. 1 hit “Way 2 Sexy.” Right after that, Drizzy took the moment to give Cole massive props as he stated Cole is one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic.
“I gotta say this ‘cause I don’t always wanna have a heartfelt moment when we’re on stage together,” Drake says around the 3:30-mark of the clip above. “You know, you did that ‘Pipe Down’ freestyle the other day. You was sayin’ in the freestyle that they gave you the bronze or whatever, me and Kendrick [Lamar]…I just want you to understand something. You are genuinely, without a doubt, one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic.
I just want to let you know, there’s way too many people in the world that think and know that Cole is in the top position. I love you with all my heart, you’re my brother, one of my favorite artists. Always appreciate you having me out here.”
Drake is passionate about the music industry and it is great to see him giving massive props to his fellow rappers as well. We will have to wait and see who Drake will praise next.
