R. Kelly’s Victims Speak Out After Guilty Verdict

R. Kelly became a controversial name in the world of Hip-Hop for a reason. He is sitting in prison on a separate federal indictment that includes child pornography, sexual exploitation of children and conspiracy to defraud the U.S. Government. He has been labelled as a predator and even tried to have herpes-related charges dropped against him.

Recently the rapper’s first male accuser came forward with his experience with R. Kelly. The rapper was also accused of forcing his victims to stay in a ‘twilight zone’ of control.

As reported earlier, R. Kelly was found guilty on all counts in his federal trial. The disgraced rapper hasn’t yet been sentenced for those 9 counts of sex crimes. Now it seems some of the rapper’s victims have breathed a sigh of relief as they expressed their relief on social media.

One of the singer’s accusers Jerhonda Johnson, 28, shared a post to Instagram with a heart and text that said “Today, my voice was heard” and noted how relieved she was after calling him out on his sexual offences.

[ G U I L T Y ] Today the jury found R. Kelly guilty. For years, I was trolled for speaking out about the abuse that I suffered at the hands of that predator. People called me a liar and said I had no proof. Some even said I was speaking out for money. Speaking out about abuse is not easy, especially when your abuser is high-profile. However, I DID IT. Me speaking out caused a domino effect and so many people came forward. There are still some people that haven’t came forward. I’m so grateful to be a voice for those who didn’t have the courage. I’m thankful to stand with those who were brave enough to speak up. I’m happy to FINALLY close this chapter of my life. I testified and the jury found him guilty. No matter what you think of me or how you feel about things; today, I MADE HISTORY. I wanna see you be brave.

Former DJ Kitti Jones called the ruling a “small victory,” but said she is unlikely to find closure, “because in the end none of us will get our time back” as she told The Daily Beast. In this instance, justice has prevailed and R. Kelly is likely to be behind bars for a very long time.
