2-time British flat racing champion, Oisin Murphy had a terrifying experience prior to a race on Thursday. In a clip of the event, Murphy’s horse can be seen bucking him off, head-first into a railing.
The incident took place at the Salisbury racecourse, where Murphy was set to debut a 2-year-old horse named Oasis Gift in a seven-furlong event.
Apparently, the horse got spooked and began to panic, moving across the parade ring frantically, as Murphy held on for dear life.
Unfortunately, Murphy could not hold on and landed headfirst on the rail, as Oasis Gift burst right through the fence. Murphy was immediately taken to the NHS London hospital, and luckily only sustained a few cuts to the face.
Murphy stated that he’s had to get a few stitches, and that he is extremely grateful for all the kind messages he has received. Oasis was withdrawn from the event, and Murphy will be riding a Japanese thoroughbred racehorse, Chrono Genesis, in Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
