Dave Chappell tells jokes for a living, and it’s getting really difficult to tell jokes in 2021 without offending someone. The Half Baked actor is in hot water over transphobic rhetoric in his new The Closer special, his sixth and final Netflix stand-up event. What he said about DaBaby is also getting Chappelle some heat.

Chappelle is now being “cancelled,” but some have an issue with what he said about DaBaby. After all, he called out the fact that DaBaby kind of got away with murder in a Walmart parking lot. Then DaBaby was “cancelled” due to homophobic comments, so Dave surmised that being anti-LGBTQ is worse than murder.

Michael Blackson called out Dave Chappelle in a big way. Launching into a series of mean tweets, Blackson said: “Dave Chappelle did not help DaBaby at all smh lol.” He also said, “Dave Chappelle low key snitched on DaBaby.”

No, Dave Chappelle didn’t help DaBaby with his jokes, but DaBaby didn’t help himself much either. Bringing up history is nothing new in stand-up comedy, after all Bill Cosby’s entire recent surge of legal woes was sparked when a pissed off Hannibal Burress called Cosby out in 2014 for being a rapist. You can peep the video below for that historic moment in stand-up comedy.

We’ll have to see if Dave Chappelle is really cancelled over this one, but he certainly didn’t win any favors with DaBaby.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
