Charlize Theron Prefers The Approval Of Her Children Over An Oscar Award

Actress Charlize Theron is set to play Morticia Addams in the upcoming Addams Family movie. The star has had an extremely successful career in Hollywood throughout the decades.

However, it seems that Theron has her priorities sorted. The mother of two claims that accolades such as the Academy Award could never measure up to the adoration of her daughters.

I can tell they are quietly pretty chuffed their mum is Morticia. As a mum who, like all mothers, wants their kids to think she’s cool, it’s a feeling no Oscar can replace.

Theron also voiced Morticia Addams in the previous animated movie, and has expressed her love for the character. The actress adopted her daughters, Jackson in 2012, and August in 2015. She has expressed happiness that her family shares a lot of values with the Addams family.

I’ve always made sure they know exactly who we were as a family, what we stand for and what our values are. Kindness and treating others in the way you want to be treated is how to go through life.

Another parallel that Theron draws between herself and Morticia Addams is in the way they speak to their children. The actress shared that she speaks to her children like adults, and that there is no “googly talk.”

Apart from her family values, Theron has also been a proponent of other positive causes. The actress has been a United Nations Messenger of Peace for humanitarian work since 2008. She has also worked for HIV education, women’s empowerment and stopping gender-based violence.
