Chris Pratt trended considerably on social media after it was announced that he would be playing the legendary video game character, Super Mario. The film seems to be slated for 2022 and also stars Jack Black, Seth Rogan and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Apparently though, he has been going back and forth with both pleased and enraged fans alike on social media since the announcement was made. He fed the proverbial fire with a post on Instagram showing himself with a Super Mario hat, nose and mustache graphically added.

The enraged portion of the audience was upset that a non-Italian was cast in the role. However this is not the first time that this occurs. The live-action film based on the video game filmed in the nineties starred the late Bob Hoskins, a native of Suffolk, England.

Luigi was played then by legendary Hispanic actor, John Leguizamo. That version was released in 1993. Truthfully though, the outrage seems out of place in this current society to most. Pratt is taking it all in stride apparently.

The post certainly got a laugh out of a few, while further enraging others.

Regardless, Pratt has promised fans that he is working on the voice he will be using to play the iconic video game character. In the meantime, the depiction of him in his Instagram post will have to do for spoilers right now.
