Saweetie is currently one of the most well-known female rappers in the entire Hip-Hop industry. She is also a smart businesswoman and can take on a variety of jobs as well.
Recently, Saweetie came under fire after an old Livestream with Too $hort made its way back to social media. In the clip, the two artists talked about biracial or multiracial people, and Too $hort revealed that he hasn’t fallen in love with a woman that has not been mixed. He said because there are so many mixed people in the Bay, it formed his attraction to biracial women.
Saweetie could be seen laughing during that part of the video, which ultimately led to a lot of backlash. It came to such a point that Saweetie even had to address the controversy and fired back at the colorism accusations.
While speaking to TMZ, Too $hort has apologized for his comments but his apology was certainly a backhanded one as he also stated ugliness can come in all different colors just as beauty can.
“I would like to apologize to anybody that’s offended by my words. I am from the Bay Area … and the whole racial thing to me has never been a factor in my circles … I’m not really into the whole hatred of, ‘I hate you because you’re light’ or ‘You’re the best because you’re dark.
I love my blackness, I love my family — on my mother’s side and my father’s side. We have every complexion: light, curly, dark, everything. You can’t have blood in your body that makes you better than someone else. You can’t be born of better parents or better breeding — there’s no such thing. Real beauty is in every economic class, every race and you can go find that ugly exactly everywhere too.”
While it seems the controversy might be over, for the time being, it is likely a new controversy surrounding the two could happen at any moment.
