The Batman starring Robert Pattinson will be the actor’s first venture as the Caped Crusader and is set to be a completely different take on Batman than shown in previous franchises. It is also directed by Matt Reeves and there are a lot of expectations for the film. It seems Reeves is also confident about the film not being just another origin story for Batman.
Pattinson’s reveal was met with a lot of mixed reactions from fans, as many doubted Pattinson could do the Caped Crusader justice. Pattinson also made it clear he was afraid of offending Batman fans.
Robert Pattinson recently stated that it’s crazy that he’s portraying the role of the Caped Crusader, to begin with, and is certainly enjoying his role. It was also said that there are many who have high hopes for Robert Pattison’s Batman.
While speaking at the DC FanDome, Matt Reeves explained why The Batman won’t be just another origin story for the Caped Crusader. He then promised a more noir version of Batman.
“I felt that we’d seen lots of origin stories. We’d seen things go further and further into fantasy, and I thought, well, one place we haven’t been is grounding it the way that Year One does to come right into a young Batman. Not be an origin tale, but refer to his origins and shake him to his core.
It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional.”
The latest trailer for the upcoming film gave more insight on Robert Pattinson as Batman as well. The film is set to release on March 4, 2022. We will have to see how the film turns out to be and if it will be able to live up to fan expectations, especially when it comes to Batman and Catwoman’s portrayals.
