The Originals has finally come to an end. The serious ran over the course of 5 seasons, and it carried a lot of fan expectations for a long time since it’s a spin-off of the much-loved series The Vampire Diaries. The spin-off focuses on brothers Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson, who are of the “Original” Mikaelson family.
The show ended at a rather abrupt note, however. The main cast of brothers were dead at the end, and fans were left wondering why did that happen. Finally, we have some answers.
Mikaelsons are some of the darkest people within the show, and they imparted that on the two brothers. Klaus is one of the darkest characters in the universe of the show, and he received his daughter Hope as a way to rediscover their humanity. The only thing that could be done through was unconditional love, something missing in his life.
It was the ancient evil of Hollow, that broke the camel’s back. It was something that risked his daughter’s life. It wasn’t what Klaus could condone, and he sacrificed his life to save his daughter, in order to let Hope flourish. Elijah simply stood alongside Klaus when he was there to sacrifice himself, and beautifully said ” …my unrelenting desire has always been your redemption.”
