The nation is after Brian Laundrie and someone thought that they got him. Sadly, they were mistaken and they only ruined a look-alike’s night.

A guy thought by some to be Laundrie was swarmed by Federal agents at his hotel room. His doppelganger’s name is Severin Beckwith and he was hiking through the Appalachian Trail with a buddy. The two were staying at a hotel called Fontana Village Resort & Marina in North Carolina when things went very wrong for them.

Beckwith told the New Yorker that he heard a knock at his door and then a gang of feds busted through with riot gear on and the whole nine yards. This was not what he expected at all, and things were very dangerous for a moment.

One of the agents apparently checked him out and said he had a notch in his upper inner ear, just like Laundrie. That wasn’t enough to arrest Beckwith.

He provided the feds with his ID and showed that he doesn’t have any of Brian Laundrie’s tattoos. That seemed to cool down the feds. This was certainly a dangerous case of mistaken identity.

It’s unknown who ratted on Beckwith, but we can only hope he is getting an attorney. Someone owes him a wad of cash of a serious apology after this nightmare. He did get the night at his hotel on the house, so that’s something.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
