Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty is certainly a controversial figure who has had trouble with the law in the past. That troubled past is still causing him problems.
For those who don’t know, Kenneth Petty is due to stand trial on federal charges of failing to register as a sex offender when he moved from New York to California in 2019. The charges are from a 1995 incident when Petty and his victim were both 16.
Petty was convicted of one count of attempted rape in the first degree, assault in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon. He also pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in 2006 and was released from prison in 2013 and would marry Nicki Minaj in 2019.
Jennifer Hough, the woman who accused Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty of rape, recently opened up about the incident. The couple apparently didn’t respond to the court papers at the right time, so Hough’s attorney asked the court for a $15 million default judgment earlier this month.
According to court documentation obtained by Complex, Nicki claims their failure to respond was “not willful.” The papers reportedly state attorney Judd Burstein was recommended to Nicki Minaj on September 22.
The two had a conversation via Zoom the next day that ended with Nicki believing she had hired Burstein. However, her manager “had not understood” Nicki had approved Burstein to be her lawyer but he was never formally retained.
“My failure to respond to the complaint was the product of an innocent mistake, and I ask the court to excuse the delay so that I can defend what I believe to be an entirely frivolous case which plaintiff’s counsel has brought against me in an effort to use my name to generate publicity for himself.”
Nicki Minaj claimed Pettty was never served with a copy of the summons and complaint. She added that the process server in question is reported as having served such documents to a “Black male, 40 years old, 200 lbs.” with black hair and brown eyes. Nicki Minaj contested this claim.
My husband is approximately 5’9’’ tall and weighs no more than 175 pounds. Further, there is no person who resides in our house or who was present there on September 15, 2021, who fits the description contained in the affidavit of service.
Hough claimed Petty sexually assaulted her in 1994 when they were both 16. It is highly unlikely that the ongoing sexual assault case will end anytime soon from the looks of it.
