Netflix’s Squid Game has taken the world by storm, as it has now become the streaming platform’s most successful show yet. It was also said that Netflix paid $21.4 million for Squid GameBeing a big trending topic right now, it was certain the show was going to get parodied.  Now it seems a council in England doesn’t want kids to watch the show.

The South Korean survival drama has grossed more views than 111 million views already. Just a few days after becoming the biggest show on Netflix, the show earned almost $900 million for Netflix.

According to Deadline, a council in the south of England has urged parents not to let their children watch the show. The education safeguarding team from Central Bedfordshire council emailed parents in the district stated that the show is rated 15. It was also said that parents should be vigilant when it comes to who has access to the series.

There have been some concerning reports recently about children and young people ‘playing’ Squid Game whilst at school. Squid Game is also being viewed via other platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, and given the popularity of the games in the show, developers have made various mini-games based on Squid Game on Roblox and other gaming platforms,” the council email read. “We strongly advise that children should not watch Squid Game. The show is quite graphic with a lot of violent content.”

Squid Game certainly has a lot of mature themes and content that are not appropriate for children. So it is understandable why many wouldn’t want the show to be seen by children, but with the advent of social media, that becomes a much harder task.
