Kobe Bryant would be proud of his wife. The late NBA star and his daughter, Gigi, tragically passed away in a helicopter accident in early 2020. Now, Vanessa Bryant is planning to elevate Kobe’s name through a new sports and entertainment empire that will share his name.
Vanessa recently submitted trademark documents to secure the rights to use Kobe’s name and likeness in digital collectible items, websites, basketball camps, broadcast platforms, movies, tv shows, podcasts, collectable sports cards, and other merchandise.
The applicant listed in the filing is Kobe, Inc. The company is the legacy business arm of Kobe Bryant. Vanessa Bryant serves as the current president of Kobe, Inc. The brand being trademarked is ‘KB24.’
The filing includes a wide variety of uses for the basketball legend. According to TMZ Sports, one huge opportunity for the business is in the exploding sneaker market. Vanessa severed the Kobe brand’s 20-year partnership back in April.
Shoes are not specifically listed in the trademark filing. Vanessa Bryant did file for a separate trademark for ‘Mamba and Mambacita’ in March. That filing specifically listed shoes.
Kobe Bryant’s estate has filed numerous trademarks since his passing. Those filings include ‘Mambacita’, ‘Lady Mambas’, and ‘Lil Mambas’. The future looks bright for fans who can’t wait to get their hands on fresh Mamba merch.
