Dave Chappelle has finally addressed the controversy surrounding transphobic remarks he made on a recent comedy special. Representatives for the comic tell TMZ he is willing to talk to Netflix employees about his jokes.

Chappelle seemed to be completely ignoring the controversy. He was most recently spotted partying in London without a care in the world.

After massive public outrage and an employee walkout at Netflix, Chappelle finally decided to respond to the mess head-on. Netflix has also expressed a willingness to work with the community to do more.

Chappelle’s rep went on to say that he would be open to a dialogue with the upset employees if they reached out to him. The organizer of the Netflix walkout, Ashlee Marie Preston, says she did invite Chappelle to talk, and that Dave didn’t show up.

The Chappelle camp indicated to TMZ that they aren’t sure where those claims are coming from. They also noted that the comedian specifically points out that he’s not against an open dialogue with any group in the special.

Chappelle has been under fire from the press and the public since the release of The Closer on Netflix. Comments made by Chappelle during his routine sent a wave of outrage through the trans community and amongst allies.
