John Wick is getting a television treatment to carry on the popular action film series. Fans will soon see what Mel Gibson can do in that universe, but they might not be 100% thrilled about it.
Gibson has been surrounded in controversy since anti-Semitic rants were recorded and spread around the internet a decade ago. He hasn’t stopped working and continued acting as well as directing.
Screenwriter Derek Kolstad spoke to TMZ about casting Mel Gibson on the John Wick series, and he’s willing to give him a chance. This is a big nod coming to the franchise’s creator.
Kolstad says that even though his creator status earns him an executive producer credit on the show — which will be a prequel titled, “The Continental,” the name of the hitman hotel in the flicks — he hasn’t been in on the creative process playing out behind the scenes, including casting.
“The Continental,” named after the hitman hotel in the film franchise, will carry on the John Wick story. This could be a very interesting adventure for fans and provide a new platform for Mel Gibson to prove himself. Whether fans accept Mel again with open arms is another story, because some of them are quite irritated with this casting decision.
