According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Ben Simmons informed the 76ers that he’s just not mentally able to play basketball for them. We are uncertain about any specifics regarding this situation, because it is such a new story.
Ben Simmons spoke to Doc Rivers, Joel Embiid and entire 76ers team today and accepted everyone needs to take responsibility, including himself — but Simmons informed them all that he’s not mentally ready to play yet and needs time.
Simmons reported to shootaround today ahead of Nets game and was seen engaged around the team, sources said. The three-time All-Star has expressed he wants to play but isn’t prepared mentally.
