Halle Berry is a Hollywood veteran, and she knows how to assert herself. She was a key part of the X-Men cinematic series, which was the superhero series before the MCU came along. Having remained part of the series for a long time, she had quite a few memorable moments on set.
Berry apparently once told the director of ‘X2: X-Men United’ to “kiss my black ass” while having a conversation about “drug issues,” according to Page Six. Bryan Singer has been vocal about his addiction to pain medication, and how that has negatively affected his life. Turns out, it was affecting the lives of others too.
Singer was part of an intervention back in the shooting days of the film. Everyone was concerned about Singer’s use of medication, and Berry spoke with the most empathy and consideration.
However, Singer’s apathy and unwillingness to be open forced Berry’s hand and made her lash out. The intervention conversation included Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, James Marsden, and Famke Janssen along with Cumming & Berry.
Berry’s co-star in the film, Alan Cumming, is releasing his own book “Baggage: Tales from a Fully Packed Life,” where he recounted the experience. He claimed that by then, Singer started to rant. He said some very hurtful things, beginning with “You people are full of f*cking sh*t.” He even insulted the cast of his movie by saying “ever made a decent film” and “were lucky to be working with him.”
The Storm-actress said that she had “had enough,” and proceeded to tell the director to “You can kiss my Black ass” However, Berry has since then worked with Singer again with another X-Men project. “X-Men: Days of Future Past” came much later.
