Earlier this year, UFC President White prevented UFC legend Georges St-Pierre from fighting boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya at Triller Club. Oscar De La Hoya was certainly furious at the announcement and so were many other people. It came to such a point that Oscar De La Hoya even challenged UFC president Dana White to a fight.
Dana White dismissed his challenge and called Oscar De La Hoya a crackhead and this prompted a response from La Hoya who lashed out at him. La Hoya previously claimed that Alexander Volkanovski doesn’t get enough pay in the UFC.
This led to Dana White blasting La Hoya and stating that the boxing legend should win an academy award for his performance at the hospital. Now it seems White decided to attack La Hoya once again.
While speaking on George Lopez’s podcast, Oscar De La Hoya talked about his boxing career. La Hoya claimed that he was forced to retire from boxing after his match against Manny Pacquiao in 2008.
“When I got my ass kicked from Manny Pacquiao 13 years ago, I retired because I got my ass kicked. I didn’t retire because I wanted to retire.
So, I’m in front of the Staples Centre, thousands of media, I’m saying and I’m crying, reading a speech that somebody wrote for me, it’s my last fight but in my head, I’m like this is not what I want. This is not the way I want to go out. It actually took me 13 years to have the balls and come back and say, you know what, I want to go out my way.”
Oscar De La Hoya recovered from COVID-19 and made it clear that he was raring to get back to the ring. La Hoya even made a $100 million offer to Floyd Mayweather for a boxing match. Floyd Mayweather was said to be up for the boxing match as well.
Floyd Mayweather beat La Hoya the last time the two crossed paths, so we will have to wait and see if La Hoya will have a better chance the next time the two clash.
