Ed Sheeran will not be able to do his scheduled Saturday Night Live appearance on November 6th, because he’ll be in COVID-19 quarantine. Now SNL producers are scrambling to replace him.

Sheeran revealed his positive COVID-19 test via social media today. The famous singer was scheduled to appear on SNL, but Page Six reports that the Saturday night sketch comedy show is now “scrambling” to find a replacement for him.

The 30-year-old singer’s positive test really threw a wrench in their plans, because there was apparently not much of a Plan B in this situation. A source expanded as they told the outlet that Sheeran is still offering to perform, but it will have to be over the internet.

“Ed is offering to perform live via video link, but this isn’t something ‘SNL’ does. The show likes to have the performer in studio.”

SNL doesn’t seem interested in streaming a TikTok or Zoom performance of Ed Sheeran. They want the genuine article, but he sadly can’t be there in person.

We’re hoping the best for Sheeran and for his speedy recovery. Our thoughts also go out to anyone who is dealing with hardships associated with this terrible pandemic.
