Eminem got an unexpected shout-out during a recent Detroit Red Wings hockey game. Eminem is also from Detroit and one fan brought in a sign that mentioned Marshall Mathers. The commentator at the program told a story about Slim Shady and gave him a shout-out when he saw that sign.

The Wings faced Chicago Blackhawks and skated out the winners with a score of 6-3. During the game, a fan held up a sign which read, “The only good thing about Detroit is Eminem.” This caught the attention of commentator Mickey Redmond which gave the rapper a shout-out. He revealed that he has a souvenir given by Eminem that he has somewhere in his house.

“You know what Eminem’s… you know, the other name he goes by? Slim Shady. One time he signed a picture for me at the parking lot of my hostel. It’s tucked away now. He signed it. Dr. Tony Colucci was there, he’s a good friend of Eminem. Eminem didn’t know who I was, and I didn’t know who he was, but he signed the picture. Tony laughed his butt off and then I said, ‘Wait a minute, I thought his name was Marshall Mathers!’ But that was his alter ego, Slim Shady. I know you are watching tonight’s game, Eminem!”

It’s interesting when someone uses the fact that Eminem is from Detroit to drag the city. Apparently, this fan thought that Slim Shady was the only good thing Detroit had to offer.
