Rob Gronkowski’s hard-nosed style has made him susceptible to bodily injury during his stint in the NFL. It’s also that style which has made him the target of a savage (but friendly) burn from his long-time quarterback, Tom Brady.
Brady recently appeared on Peyton and Eli Manning’s Manningcast on ESPN 2 during Monday Night Football. The subject of Gronkowski came up with hilarious results.
“Just run away from the guys in the other color jerseys. How hard is that?”
Tom Terrific explained that he does the film study on behalf of Gronk. He lightheartedly said that he intentionally keeps it simple for his tight end.
Brady says that Gronkowski is a quick study, but giving him too much information can slow him down. The Hall of Fame QB said his star tight end does better when he keeps things simple.
“His mind doesn’t need to be bogged down with film study. He’ll come to me later in the week and say, ‘Hey, you know, what do I got to do?’ And I say, ‘Get open, catch the ball and run with it. It’s not that hard. You’re a tight end. You don’t have to call the plays. Just run and get open.’”
Despite the jokes, Brady and Gronk have shared an enormous amount of success over their careers. Since joining forces in 2010, the dynamic duo has won four Super Bowls. Their most recent championship came in February with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
