Dave Chappelle needs no introductions as far as being a stand-up comedian are concerned as his range of comedies and impeccable timing made him a huge success. Chappelle’s latest special on Netflix, called ‘The Closer,’ dropped on the streaming platform back on October 5th. Now it seems Caitlyn Jenner has come to his aid as well.
The National Black Justice Coalition called on Netflix to remove Dave Chappelle’s special from the streaming platform for Chappelle’s harmful and transphobic remarks against the trans community.
Despite all the controversy, many have come to Dave Chappelle’s defense. This included trans comedian Flame Monroe as well. Recently, even Andrew Yang backed up Dave Chappelle. Even Bill Maher decided to decide Dave Chappelle recently.
While Caitlyn Jenner is transgender, she often takes anti-LGBTQIA approaches to sociopolitical discourse. Jenner took to Twitter and shared a clip of Chappelle’s post-The Closer response to transgender workers walking out of the job. Jenner defended Chappelle and blasted cancel culture in the process.
Dave Chappelle is 100% right. This isn’t about the LGBTQ movement. It’s about woke cancel culture run amok, trying to silence free speech. We must never yield or bow to those who wish to stop us from speaking our minds.
Dave Chappelle also made it clear he is unapologetic regarding his transphobic comments and that is unlikely to change anytime soon from the looks of it. In the current climate, perhaps it is best for Dave Chappelle to apologize for his hurtful jokes.
