Tom Green appeared on ex-wife Drew Barrymore’s eponymous talk show this week for their latest reunion since divorcing in 2002.
After reflecting on some old times, the former Hollywood couple also discussed topics with guests, one of whom was concerned with attending the upcoming wedding of an ex. After a comedy beat, Green looked at frequent co-host Ross Matthews and then signaled towards his ex-wife, joking about not being invited to her wedding.
I’ve never been invited to an ex’s wedding.
The audience laughed at Green’s gesture, then he added how he understood why Barrymore never invited him to her wedding.
It makes sense to me. Honestly, I think it makes sense to probably not go to an ex’s wedding.
Drew agreed, “I think so, too!”
After Tom and Drew divorced in 2002, Drew ended up marrying Will Kopelman in 2012. Barrymore and Kopelman split in 2016. Tom never re-married after Drew, and does not appear to be in a relationship these days.
This was Tom’s second appearance on Drew’s daytime TV show, and it comes one year after he first showed up for a taping, which marked the first time the former couple had spoken in 15 years. Drew gave Tom a grand introduction before bringing him out on the stage this week.
I have always been attracted to visionaries, comedians and people who make me laugh. I was so attracted to our next guest I even married him!
Tom’s 2020 appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” was done virtually. Tuesday’s appearance marked the first time the former couple had seen each other face-to-face in 20 years. Tom remarked how he liked the in-person reunion.
This is much nicer than the green screen, by the way. I like this — in-person.
Mathews later asked the exes how it felt to be back together in person again. Green responded that it felt “sort of a little bit like an out-of-body experience.” Green then told Barrymore, “It’s very nice to see you. It does feel weird though. Not weird in a bad way, weird in a good way… I actually think this is a nice way of reconnecting. It takes a little bit of the pressure off.”
Barrymore responded, “Well, I respect and love you.”
“Love you, too,” Green added.
