Jon Gruden was forced to resign from head coaching position of the Las Vegas Raiders when uncovered emails from Gruden included a terrible choice of words and racism. Once it came out that he called NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, a “f*ggot,” then he quit the team.
According to The Athletic, Gruden and the Raiders finally figured out how to get him out of the 10-year $100 million contract he had in place. This was figured out at the NFL owners meeting in New York.
Raiders owner Mark David confirmed that he reached a settlement with Gruden. This was for an undisclosed amount of money, but we’re guessing it was a huge check.
Jon Gruden had nearly $40 million in guaranteed money coming to him as well. That money wasn’t paid at the time of his resignation, and it’s doubtful that he got the whole $40 million. No matter how big the payout Gruden received, he’ll have a hard time finding an NFL gig any time soon.
We will likely hear from Gruden again, because there are a ton of emails that they uncovered while doing an investigation, into the Washington Football Team’s long history of sexual harassment and homophobia, that Gruden’s name could be included in several more headlines if those emails are ever released.
