The Rock Gets A Kick Out Of Fan Reaction To Vin Diesel Feud

Dwayne Johnson reveals that he would never initiate jokes about his feud with Vin Diesel but he loves laughing at them when people pitch it to him.

The years-long public spat between the two hunks is common knowledge now and would naturally garner jokes and comments from fans. Johnson and Diesel famously didn’t get along while filming certain Fast & Furious movies, with Johnson at one point seemingly calling Diesel a “candy ass” on social media and even posted, and deleted, a rant that really set their feud into high gear.

Both seemingly dusted their differences off in the years to come but comments from Diesel in the summer of 2021 re-ignited talk of a feud when he claimed he needed to give Johnson “tough love” to get the right performance out of him.

When asked by SiriusXM about a feud-related line in his upcoming movie Red Notice, Johnson noted that the jokes about his feud with Diesel “never end.” The Rock claims that he’s regularly pitched jokes about his feud with Diesel, but welcomes them because they “play great […] to the audience.” He also made it clear that he personally never initiates the light trash-talk that does end up going public in one form or another.

The jokes never end. People were asking me about [making Diesel jokes] and they just, they find a way, and you know, what’s interesting is, you know, these Vin diesel jokes, which play great by the way to the audience, which is always a good thing because it’s all about [the audience]. But, people think these jokes come from me and they actually don’t. I mean, you’d be surprised at how many people come to me with ‘I got a great one.’ I’m like ‘okay.’ ‘I got another great Vin Diesel joke.’ ‘I’m sure you do.’ [Laughs] Always funny.

It is clear that the feud is not all serious anymore although it did start off as a real divider that led to Johnson’s absence from Fast 9. He did have his own spin-off Hobbs & Shaw with Jason Statham where he reprised his role as Hobbs.
