LL Cool J is certainly one of the most legendary rappers of all time. He was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. It seems he did something else as well.
According to TMZ, the legendary rapper restored and donated the Audi which was on the cover of his 1987 album BAD. He took help from custom auto body shop Unique Rides in NYC to restore it for the Hall Of Fame.
The shop’s owner, Will Castro stated that LL approached him about this last year during the pandemic. He asked if Castro could help him out. The car was one of LL’s first big purchases after signing his initial Def Jam record deal.
The car certainly has sentimental value for him. He kept it in his grandmother’s house in NYC for nearly 3 decades. The 87 Audi 5000 was given a new bodywork, a fresh paint job, installing a custom 2-tone black leather interior with red piping, a full stereo system with Blaupunkt cassette deck (truly old school), amps and subs, red lighting, putting in original BBS wheels and a full engine rebuild.
It was said that the rapper spent $35k fixing up the car and immediately donated it to the hall of fame afterwards. We applaud LL Cool J for what he did for the Hall Of Fame.
