“Vanderpump Rules” star Lisa Vanderpump is facing backlash on her controversial comments regarding the local minimum wage in West Hollywood, according to Page Six.
The 61-year-old recently asked the city council to holdoff on raising the local minimum wage, saying pursuing such an initiative would be “counterproductive,” according to ABC 7 News.
“I just implore you to really give this a lot of thought, because I do believe if we raise the minimum wage now it’s going to be counterproductive,” the reality TV star said during a Zoom call meet with the city council representatives late Wednesday night.
Despite her objection, lawmakers proceeded with the ordinance, putting the local minimum wage at $17.64 an hour – making it the highest local minimum wage in the California city.
Her views received widespread backlash on Twitter, with many accusing the millionaire reality TV star and business mogul of being greedy and out of touch with reality.
“God forbid they make some sacrifices to their extremely lavish lifestyles to help keep their employees afloat when they’re worth $90 million,” one user tweeted.
“If you can’t afford to pay wages to your employees then you can’t afford your business PERIOD,” another said. “Lisa is worth millions of dollars. How about she take a payout,” someone wrote.
