Letitia Wright was injured two months ago when something went seriously wrong with a stunt rig in Boston during the filming of the Black Panther sequel. She has been recovering in London since the injury occurred and filming has been postponed until 2022.

The film has been shrouded in controversy considering that the star of the first film, Chadwick Boseman, passed away. Ryan Coogler, the director of the film, stated that he plans on honoring the star in the sequel. On Letitia, a rep for the actress told the Hollywood Reporter:

“Letitia has been recovering in London since September from injuries sustained on the set of Black Panther 2 and is looking forward to returning to work early 2022. Letitia kindly asks that you keep her in your prayers.”

Marvel stated: “the incident would ultimately not impact the shooting schedule of the film”

It was apparently in April that co-star, Lupita Nyong’o stated of the film and Coogler’s intent to move forward despite Boseman’s absence:

“People will ask me, ‘Are you excited to go back?’ Excitement isn’t the word. I feel like I’m in a very pensive and meditative state when it comes to Black Panther 2. His passing is still extremely raw for me. And I can’t even begin to imagine what it will be like to step on set and not have him there.

But, at the same time we have a leader in Ryan, who feels very much like we do, who feels the loss in a very, very real way as well. And his idea, the way in which he has reshaped the second movie is so respectful of the loss we’ve all experienced as a cast and as a world. So it feels spiritually and emotionally correct to do this. And hopefully, what I do look forward to, is getting back together and honoring what he started with us and holding his light through it. Because he left us a lot of light that we’re still going to be bathing in. I know that for sure.”

So filming cannot continue, as is quite obvious, and is undoubtedly delayed due to Letitia Wright’s injury alone, it would seem. It seems like Covid-19 isn’t the only thing holding up Hollywood productions these days, as we saw with the incident on the set of the 5th installment of Indiana Jones as well.
