Colby Covington isn’t letting the loss against UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman deter his ambitions to continue putting on matches, albeit in a different wrestling promotion, in future.
Covington, who lost his championship bid to Usman via unanimous decision Saturday night at UFC 268 PPV that took place at Madison Square Garden in NYC, says he’s focused on putting on fights.
The former Interim Welterweight Champion did not mince words in a post-fight media appearance, taking jabs at his former training camp, American Top Team, and their current promotion, All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
“I don’t pay any attention to what those losers do. I’m focused on putting on the biggest and best fights in the world. You might see me in WWE one day, but I don’t think you’re going to see me in a second-tier promotion, like AEW.”
The 33-year-old had a public falling-out with his former team and left them to join MMA Masters in 2020. Covington has also made sporadic appearances for wrestling promotions, including Impact Wrestling in 2017 where he was part of an angle that also involved his former American Top Team members.
